Andrea Luecke leads The Solar Foundation and is responsible for developing and implementing national educational initiatives and high-level research that promote the widespread adoption of solar energy. Ms. Luecke played a key role in authoring and releasing the award winning National Solar Jobs Census 2010, 2011 and 2012 and currently plays a leadership role on the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Solar Outreach Partnership program while also providing IREC with advanced technical support on the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Instructor Training Network project. As a subject matter expert, Ms. Luecke is regularly asked to present on practical "best practice" approaches to widespread solar deployment at the national and international levels.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Luecke ran the City of Milwaukee’s U.S. Department of Energy Solar America Cities program, Milwaukee Shines, where she was directly exposed to the challenges and obstacles local governments face in successfully executing programs aimed to reduce energy consumption, increase solar energy capacity, and implement solar-friendly legislation and programs.

Among other things, Ms. Luecke spearheaded Milwaukee’s Property Assessed Clean Energy financing program and the Milwaukee Metro Solar Hot Water Business Council - which is an effort designed to help local manufacturers enter the solar hot water supply chain. As a result of her front-line experience, Ms. Luecke earned the “0-60” award by the U.S. Department of Energy for her leadership and persistence in starting a solar program from scratch.

Ms. Luecke has over a decade of experience conceiving, launching, and administering organizational start-ups, has initiated, designed and led programs in the NGO and international development sectors, and worked in the finance and insurance sectors. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she was awarded the highly competitive Center for Economic Development fellowship through the UW Consortium for Economic Opportunity. Ms. Luecke holds a Master’s Degree in Business, is multilingual, and has lived for long periods in South and Central America, Spain and Morocco.
